Back to Bachelor life

March 6, 2008

Stephanie left for Dallas today, so I am on my own until Sunday night. It’s back to ramen noodles, cereal, and fast food for a few days. It’s tough to make the transition now that I am used to coming home to someone. The good news is that there will be a plethora of sports on the TV and I’m sure I’ll find a way to work in some shoot-em up movies as well. Or, I’ll end up staying at work extra-late each night. Either way, the seat will be left up :)

Blog topics

March 4, 2008

In my recent efforts to blog every day (which I’ve done fairly well) I have started to have problems coming up with new topics to write about. Some days it’s easy, others it’s very tough – like today. I couldn’t think of anything so I chose to blog about blogging. Something tells me that this won’t be the last time that I do this.

Either way, it’s good to write. I’ve read several books that suggest writing anything, even if it is random and unplanned, is better than not writing at all. Just typing whatever is on your mind can get the creativity flowing.

But for today’s post, my creativity isn’t working that well. Better luck tomorrow.

No Dollar for you, Shawn!

February 11, 2008

Here’s the deal…a co-worker and I have agreed to post on a daily-basis, when we don’t there is a financial penalty. So this sentence is saving me from giving a future lawyer money, which should be motivation enough, right?

With this being my first blog, I need help…any suggestions on design, layout, format, topics, etc. will be greatly appreciated.

Thought for the day – “Don’t leave your laptop in your car while you go to BestBuy to shop for a new laptop. Your old laptop will know what you are doing and it will be unhappy. It will then provoke someone to break your car-window and take itself right out of your life. Laptops have feelings too.” – Anonymous

Personal Challenge

August 30, 2007

For me, I seem to step up to a challenge with more desire and effort when the challenge comes from someone else instead of from myself. I can motivate myself to do certain things, but I function better when I am being pushed by others. For example, I have been saying (verbally) for quite sometime that I want to write more and be more actively creative. I’ve set many personal goals along the way regarding how often I should write – how many hours per week, how many pages, etc. I’ve even encouraged others to do the same. But it wasn’t until two of the most influential people in my life started their own blog, that I finally acted on my desire to write and express myself, resluting in this verbose explanation that you are currently reading.

In my effort to “constantly grow”, I should try to set and meet personal challenges for myself more frequently but also embrace the part of me that enjoys an external challenge. I challenge you to do the same.

First Stroll

August 30, 2007

Welcome one and all to the EveningStroll – designed to be a frequent, and eventually a daily activity for both myself and those who visit. Here you will find my thoughts, views, beliefs, questions, rants, tangents, and perspectives. Let’s take a walk together…ya, that was corny.
