Sunday review

March 10, 2008

Stephanie came back tonight (finally!). It felt like much longer than 4-days for me, but it seem to go by too quickly for her. I’m glad that she got to spend time with her family, but I’m more glad that she’s back home.

I slept a lot today, more than I normally do on a weekend. And it felt great. I usually don’t sleep that well during the week so sleeping in and napping on the weekend is a welcomed occurrence because it doesn’t happen too often.

Speaking of sleeping, this blog is going to be short because I am headed to Sleepsville. G’night!

Married vs. Single

February 22, 2008

The atmosphere at work is something very unique - a great group of guys that all get along (except when they steal from each other) and are able to have a good laugh most every day. 5 of the guys are married, including yours truly, and one is single. The differences between the single and married lifestyle are blatantly obvious and they are a reminder for me as to what “single life” was like.

Every once in a while, there is something that I think I miss about being single, but those thoughts don’t last long. I quickly remember how lucky I am to be married to the person I was made for. My marriage is infinitely better than anything that I could have accomplished while single. That is not a knock on the single guy in our group at work, but for me marriage is the way to go.

Thanks to my wife for being beautiful, patient, a terrific cook, and my best friend! For those of you that are still searching for that special someone…keep the faith, they are out there.

Trip to the park and Vortex validation

February 16, 2008

The wife and I, along with my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew, headed to the park earlier today. There is nothing like going to a playground to bring back that youthful perspective. It was also a great chance for my brother (30yrs) and myself (26yrs) to attempt several feats of strength and skill that we used to be able to do on a regular basis. As we quickly learned, our bodies are not what they used to be. Unfortunately, they are much more than they used to be. In fact, they are about 20+ pounds more than they used to be in high school/college. Oh well, at least we can laugh at it.

The highlight of the day (other than watching our newphew – the cutest 16month old ever – run around like wildman) was the fact that we took my newly acquired NERF Vortex football (Thanks to my wife for this terrific Christmas present). If you are a former athlete, and you have not played sports in a while, I urge you to purchase this fantastic toy. This will make you feel as though you’ve still “got-it!”. Even though you and I both know that neither one of us really still have anything, this football can make you feel young again.

The secret? The secret is that this ball, while much smaller than a standard football, can be thrown a country mile. We both threw our arms out quickly, but there is something wonderful about being able to throw an object 75-yards! If your ego needs a boost – this is the thing for you.
